Profile
Eric has been involved in the golf industry for most of his life. He began on the player’s side as an accomplished golfer for his high school team, even assisting the team to win the Illinois state championship. After high school, Eric decided to pursue a career in golf through the turfgrass management program at Horry Georgetown Tech in South Carolina. During his time here, Eric was awarded with the opportunity to intern at the nationally known Valhalla Golf Club, which was preparing to host the 1996 PGA Championship.
Once Eric graduated from the 2-year program at Horry Georgetown Tech, he felt additional knowledge and training would further his career ambitions. So he entered Clemson University to pursue his Bachelor of Science in Plant Pathology. Eric also had an interest in turfgrass research, participating in many work studies involving issues such as turfgrass diseases and nematode analysis. His studious efforts have led to a solid base for an outstanding career in the golf industry.
Over the course of his aspiring career, Eric has worked at several well-respected clubs, including 4 years experience as the Assistant Superintendent at Sunningdale Country Club in the New York Metropolitan area. Eric then served five years at Westchester Country Club before taking his first Golf Course Superintendent position at Dyker Beach Golf Course in Brooklyn. He is now the superintendent at Lake Isle Country Club.
Eric has gained experience in many types of golf course construction and renovation, and has direct knowledge in preparing for professional events, like the 2007 Barclay’s Classic PGA Tour event. He embodies a professional with a broad range of management experience at courses both large and small. His vast knowledge of agronomics through years of research and study further augment his ability to provide members with championship conditions on a daily basis.
